Philosophy

What we know

Aldous Huxley with Perennial Philosophy posits that religious traditions share a single, metaphysical truth or origin from which all esoteric and exoteric knowledge and doctrine has grown.  This is corroborated by mystics throughout the ages, and further by our own personal experiences.

Vedanta affirms that all religions teach the same basic truths about God, the world, and our relationship to one another. Rig Veda declared: "Truth is one, sages call it by various names."  The world's religions offer varying approaches to God, each one true and valid, each religion offering the world a unique and irreplaceable path to God-realization. The conflicting messages we find are due more to doctrine and dogma than to the reality of spiritual experience.

This Truth is the nature of our existence and our reality -- we view it through a screen, a window, a fog; we experience it from within Maya.  Institutions in society that attempt to monopolize their viewpoint as "the only way" are misguided at best, and at worst outright dangerous.  Thus, our ideal is not to point at a gilded window-frame symbolizing unattainability, but instead to recognize that we are, at the moment of apotheosis and every Now before and after, existing in unity with all that is, was, and will be.

We welcome all faiths and practices.  For the good of all, and harm to none.

Languages

"What is the churches position on _______________?" is a great question, one we are happy to explore, but it misses the point of what we're doing here. Have your own experience.

Not like English or Spanish, although those are some languages people use to communicate.  We use "Languages" to describe the mechanisms or modalities through which conscious beings energetically connect with each other.  To provide some examples:

  • Christianity is a Language that uses terms like God, Trinity, Heaven/Hell, Angels/Demons. When two people fluent in Christianity meet, their shared backgrounds should allow them to easily connect in a spiritual dialog.
  • Parenthood is a Language.  It can be simple to connect with other parents through a common bond of diapers, tantrums, and teenage angst. Oh... and the joy.
  • Music is a Language that transmits thoughts and emotions using sound waves.
  • Quantum Mechanics is a Language that helps describe our Realm.
  • The Law of Attraction is a Language.
  • Trauma is a Language.
  • Gardening
  • Alcoholism
  • Memes
  • Religions
  • Philosophies
  • Gurus
  • Books
  • Life Experiences
  • Media
  • Love of The Lord of the Rings
  • ANYTHING

These are all Languages understood by individuals, and finding a shared Language allows communication and connection to flow that much easier.  We are devoted to learning as many Languages as we can hold, in order to better connect with a diverse humanity.

There are a lot of paths up the mountain, and the only person wasting time is the one running around telling everyone else they're on the wrong path.  Yet even with many paths there is but one summit, one mountain. Source, God, Universe, Brahman, Unity Consciousness, the ALL.

Rituals

Humanity has taken part in ritualistic behavior since the dawn of consciousness.  We all perform our chosen rituals every day of our lives.  Only by paying attention do we give them meaning.

A ritual is simply an action taken in a specific sequence. From the mundane to the sacred, rituals carry the weight of our intentions into the physical realm and cause eternal ripples in the fabric of time.  This occurs consciously or unconsciously, the choice is yours alone.   To provide some examples:

  • Communion is a ritual of Christianity in which participants consume bread and wine which symbolize (or are transubstantiated into) the body and blood of Jesus Christ..
  • Marriage is a ritual between beings that displays to the world their willing commitment to each other.
  • A Bar Mitzvah celebrates a Jewish boy reaching the age of maturity.
  • The Three "S's".  Shower, Shave, and Defecate.  A time honored tradition
  • During a funeral the living gather to solemnly pay respects to the deceased..
  • Smudging
  • Prayer before meals
  • Casting a spell
  • Birthday Parties - "Happy Birthday to You!"
  • Baby Showers
  • Masonic Initiations
  • Boat Christenings
  • Meditation
  • New Years Day celebration
  • Baptism
  • Any action by an individual or group performed in a specific manner, for a specific reason.

These are all Rituals developed and performed by humanity. Different rituals carry different amounts of weight; produce different sized ripples in the fabric of spacetime.  Innocuous ones done automatically - on autopilot - do very little to alter the trajectory of your incarnation. (Brushing your Teeth.)  Group rituals, by contrast, generally mark substantial milestones over the course of a persons lifetime.  (Graduation ceremonies.)

Through proper understanding and use of rituals, we are able to manifest great change.

“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.”  -Lao Tzu

Reference Materials

This is by no means exhaustive, nor should it be taken as immutable.  Instead we offer a sampling (in no particular order) of thoughtforms we have at least a passing familiarity with and that are likely to be referenced in our programming.  This subject list is a great place to begin.

  • Nag Hammadi Library - Biblical Apocrypha
  • And he said, whoever discovers what these sayings mean will not taste death.  Yeshua said, seek and do not stop seeking until you find.  When you find, you will be troubled. When you are troubled, you will marvel and rule over all. Yeshua said, if your leaders tell you, "Look, the kingdom is in heaven," then the birds of heaven will precede you. If they say to you, "It's in the sea," then the fish will precede you. But the kingdom is inside you and it is outside you. When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you dwell in poverty and you are poverty. -Gospel of Thomas 1-3

  • "The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences will make you an athiest, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you" - Werner Heisenberg
  • "The total number of minds in the universe is one. In fact, consciousness is a singularity phasing within all beings." - Erwin Schrödinger
  • "All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force... We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent Mind. This Mind is the matrix of all matter." - Max Planck (See also Hermeticism)
  • "If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration." - Nikola Tesla

  • Aldous Huxley -  “One Reality, all-comprehensive, contains within itself all realities.”
  • The Hux again  - “The man who wishes to know the "that" which is "thou" may set to work in any one of three ways. He may begin by looking inwards into his own particular thou and, by a process of "dying to self" --- self in reasoning, self in willing, self in feeling --- come at last to knowledge of the self, the kingdom of the self, the kingdom of God that is within. Or else he may begin with the thous existing outside himself, and may try to realize their essential unity with God and, through God, with one another and with his own being. Or, finally (and this is doubtless the best way), he may seek to approach the ultimate That both from within and from without, so that he comes to realize God experimentally as at once the principle of his own thou and of all other thous, animate and inanimate.”
  • Vedanta - "There is no help for you outside of yourself; you are the creator of the universe. Like the silkworm you have built a cocoon around yourself.... Burst your own cocoon and come out as the beautiful butterfly, as the free soul. Then alone you will see Truth."  - Swami Vivekandanda

  • Cannabis - "What I really value about cannabis is the way in which it allows one to be taken by surprise by unexpected ideas" _ Terence McKenna
  • Psilocybin - "Psilocybin is that spark that will lead to a quantum leap in our consciousness.  And psilocybin helps you laugh." - Paul Stamets
  • Ayahuasca - "The easy part is drinking ayahuasca. Now you're along for the ride. The hard part is integrating your experience into your day-to-day." - Tim Sae Koo
  • Bonus Aya Quote - "All politicians should be required to drink ayahuasca 10 times before taking office." - Graham Hancock
  • LSD (Not from plants)  - "LSD is just a tool to turn us into what we are supposed to be." - Albert Hofmann
  • "Psychedelics show you what's in and on your mind, those subconscious thoughts and feelings that are hidden, covered up, forgotten, out of sight, maybe even completely unexpected, but nevertheless imminently present." - Rick Strassman
  • "If you get the message, hang up the phone.  For psychedelic drugs are simply instruments, like microscopes, telescopes, and telephones. The biologist does not sit with eye permanently glued to the microscope, he goes away and works on what he has seen." - Alan Watts
  • "All the great exponents of the literature of psychedelics come face to face with this dilemma: they require language to talk about the inadequacy of words" - David Lenson

  • General Relativity
  • "Everything is energy and that's all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy, this is physics."
  • "A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to enhance all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
  • "If they want to see me, here I am. If they want to see my clothes, open my closet and show them my suits."
  • "The distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion."

  • "So in this idea, then, everybody is fundamentally the ultimate reality. Not God in a politically kingly sense, but God in the sense of being the self, the deep-down basic whatever there is. And you're all that, only you're pretending you're not. And it's perfectly OK to pretend you're not, to be perfectly convinced, because this is the whole notion of drama."
  • "This present moment never comes to be and it never ceases to be, it is simply our minds that construct the continuity of thoughts we call time. In the present moment is nirvana."
  • Self improvement is a dangerous form of vanity. By the age of 35 one's character is firmly formed and must be regarded as an instrument to be used, rather than changed." (Oh shit I dunno about that one)

  • Christian Messianic Figure
  • "You have heard it said, don't commit murder, and all who commit murder will be in danger of judgement. But I say to you that everyone who is angry with their brother or sister will be in danger of judgement."
  • “Ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you.
  • "For those who have will receive more and they will have more than enough. But as for those who don’t have, even the little they have will be taken away from them."
  • “Prophets are honored everywhere except in their own hometowns and in their own households.”

  • Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
  • Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge.

  • How to Know Higher Worlds - "All knowledge pursued mere for the enrichment of personal learning and the accumulation of personal treasure leads you away from the path; but all knowledge pursued for growth to ripeness within the process of human ennoblement and cosmic development brings you a step forward."
  • "When we raise ourselves through meditation to what unites us with the spirit, we quicken something within us that is eternal and unlimited by birth and death. Once we have experienced this eternal part in us, we can no longer doubt its existence.  Meditation is thus the way to knowing and beholding the eternal, indestructible, essential centre of our being."
  • "Receive the child in reverence, educate them in love, and send them forth in freedom."

  • Tao Te Ching - Simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures.  Simple in actions and thoughts - you return to the source of being. Patient with both friends and enemies - you accord with the way things are. Compassionate toward yourself - you reconcile all beings in the world.

  • The Archaic Revival - "The Archaic Revival is a clarion call to recover our birthright, however uncomfortable that may make us. It is a call to realize that life lived in the absence of the psychedelic experience upon which primordial shamanism is based is life trivialized, life denied, life enslaved to the ego and its fear of dissolution in the mysterious matrix of feeling that is all around us."

  • "Man's threefold lower nature - consisting of his physical organism, his emotional nature, and his mental faculties - reflects the light of his threefold Divinity and bears witness of It in the physical world. Man's animal nature partakes of the earth; his divine nature of the heavens; his human nature of the mediator."
  • "We can only escape from the world by by outgrowing the world. Death may take man out of the world but only wisdom can take the world out of the man. As long as the human being is obsessed by worldliness, he will suffer from the Karmic consequences of false allegiances. When however, worldliness is transmuted into Spiritual Integrity he is free, even through he still dwells physically among worldly things."
  • "When the human race learns to read the language of symbolism, a great veil will fall from the eyes of men. They shall then know truth and, more than that, they shall realize that from the beginning truth has been in the world unrecognized, save by a small and gradually increasing number."

  • Teachings of Don Juan - "Anything is one of a million paths. Therefore you must always keep in mind that a path is only a path; if you feel you should not follow it, you must not stay with it under any conditions. To have such clarity you must lead a disciplined life. Only then will you know that any  path is only a path and there is no affront, to oneself or to others, in dropping it if that is what the heart tells you to do. But your decision to keep on the path or to leave it must be free from fear or ambition. I warn you."
  • Toltec teachings,
  • Sorcery -  "Intent is a force that exists in the universe. When sorcerers (those who live of the source) beckon to intent, it comes to them and sets up the path for attainment, which means that sorcerers always accomplish what they set out to do."
  • Three Attentions -  "To explain these concepts I've made a three-part, uneven division of our consciousness. The smallest, the first attention, or the consciousness that every normal person has developed in order to deal with the daily world, encompasses the awareness of the physical body. Another larger portion, the second attention, is the awareness we need in order to perceive our luminous cocoon and to act as luminous beings. The second attention is brought forth through deliberate training or by an accidental trauma, and it encompasses the awareness of the luminous body. The last portion, which is the largest, is the third attention. It's an immeasurable consciousness which engages undefinable aspects of the awareness of the physical and the luminous bodies."

  • 4 Agreements -  "What you are seeing and hearing right now is nothing but a dream. You are dreaming right now in this moment. You are dreaming with the brain awake. Dreaming is the main function of the mind, and the mind dreams twenty-four hours a day. It dreams when the brain is awake, and it also dreams when the brain is asleep. The difference is that when the brain is awake, there is a material frame that makes us perceive things in a linear way. When we go to sleep we do not have the frame, and the dream has the tendency to change constantly. Humans are dreaming all the time.
  • Before we were born the humans before us created a big outside dream that we will call society's dream or the dream of the planet. The dream of the planet is the collective dream of billions of smaller, personal dreams, which together create a dream of a family, a dream of a community, a dream of a city, a dream of a country, and finally a dream of the whole humanity. The dream of the planet includes all of society's rules, its beliefs, its laws, its religions, its different cultures and ways to be, its governments, schools, social events, and holidays. "

  • Learned man should not rejoice in what he loves nor recoil from what disgusts him; secure in understanding, un-deluded, knowing the infinite spirit, he abides in it.
  • Detached from external contacts, he discovers joy in himself; joined by discipline to the infinite spirit, the Self attains inexhaustible joy.
  • Delights from external objects are wombs of suffering; in their beginning is their end, and no wise man delights in them.
  • A man able to endure the force of desire and anger before giving up his body is disciplined and joyful.
  • The man of discipline has joy, delight and light within; becoming the infinite spirit, he finds the pure calm of infinity.
  • Seers who can destroy their sins, cut through doubt, master the Self, and delight in the good of all creatures attain the pure calm of infinity.

The fifth teaching, Renunciation of of Action, 20-25.

  • The Red Book -  “You open the gates of the soul to let the dark flood of chaos flow into your order and meaning. If you marry the ordered to the chaos you produce the divine child, the supreme meaning beyond meaning and meaninglessness.”
  • Seven Sermons to the Dead -  “Perhaps because alchemy combines the ancient, Gnostic focus on the immaterial and transcendent soul, or spark, with the modern, scientific-like focus on the transformation of worldly matter, it serves to connect the two."
  • Archetypes -  “There is good reason for supposing that the archetypes are the unconscious images of the instincts themselves, in other words, that they are patterns of instinctual behaviour.”
  • Shadow Work -  "The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge."
  • Collective Unconscious - "The collective unconscious contains the whole spiritual heritage of mankind's evolution born anew in the brain structure of every individual. In fact the whole of mythology could be taken as a sort of projection of the collective unconscious."

  • Eliphas Levi -  "Magic is the divinity of man conquered by science in union with faith; the true Magi are Men-Gods, in virtue of their intimate union with the divine principle." "To practice magic is to be a quack; to know magic is to be a sage."
  • John Michael Greer - "There's a rich irony in the insistence that magical thinking is less useful than scientific thinking, because magical thinking is exactly the form of human thought that deals with the realm of motivations, values, and goals that scientific thinking handles so poorly."
  • Aleister Crowley - "Indubitably, Magick is one of the subtlest and most difficult of the sciences and arts. There is more opportunity for errors of comprehension, judgement and practice than in any other branch of physics."
  • Arthur C. Clarke - "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
  • Sigmund Freud - "A layman will no doubt find it hard to understand how pathological disorders of the body and mind can be eliminated by 'mere' words. He will feel that he is being asked to believe in magic. And he will not be so very wrong, for the words which we use in our everyday speech are nothing other than watered-down magic."
  • Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa - "I confess that Magic teacheth many superfluous things, and curious prodigies for ostentation; leave them as empty things, yet be not ignorant of their causes. But those things which are for the profit of men - for the turning away of evil events, for the destroying of sorceries, for the curing of diseases, for the exterminating of phantasm, for the preserving of life, honor or fortune - may be done without offense to God or injury to religion, because they are, as profitable, so necessary."

The Seven Hermetic Principles - Important enough to list here:

  1. Mentalism - The all is Mind; The Universe is Mental
  2. Correspondence - As Above, So Below
  3. Vibration - Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates
  4. Polarity - Everything is dual; everything has poles; opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree
  5. Rhythm - Everything flows; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall
  6. Cause and Effect - Everything happens according to law
  7. Gender - Everything has its masculine and feminine principles

  • "Hermeticisim is the science of nature hidden in the hieroglyphics and symbols of the ancient world. • The Gateway Experience
  • "There is no beginning, there is no end, there is only change. There is no teacher, there is no student, there is only remembering. There is no good, there is no evil, there is only expression. There is no union, there is no sharing, there is only one."

  • Becoming Supernatural -  “So your thoughts drive your feelings, and your feelings drive your thoughts, and eventually this loop hardwires your brain into the same patterns, which conditions your body into the past. And because emotions are a record of past experiences, if you can’t think greater than how you feel, this thinking-feeling loop keeps you anchored to your past and creates a constant state of being. This is how the body becomes the mind—or in time, how your thoughts run you and your feelings own you.”
  • Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself -  “The latest research supports the notion that we have a natural ability to change the brain and body by thought alone, so that it looks biologically like some future event has already happened. Because you can make thought more real than anything else, you can change who you are from brain cell to gene, given the right understanding.”
  • "As more and more people start to wake up to information, there's a change in energy, because change in consciousness requires a change in energy. And a greater energy causes systems that were once stable to become unstable, to become chaotic, and chaos is just unpredictable order. It's novelty, it's newness, it's an unraveling of systems."

  • Divine Matrix -  “Both science and mysticism describe a force that connects everything together and gives us the power to influence how matter behaves—and reality itself—simply through the way we perceive the world around us.”
  • “With these words, Max Planck, the father of quantum theory, described a universal field of energy that connects everything in creation: the Divine Matrix. The Divine Matrix is our world. It is also everything in our world. It is us and all that we love, hate, create, and experience. Living in the Divine Matrix, we are as artists expressing our innermost passions, fears, dreams, and desires through the essence of a mysterious quantum canvas. But we are the canvas, as well as the images upon the canvas. We are the paints, as well as the brushes. In the Divine Matrix, we are the container within which all things exist, the bridge between the creations of our inner and outer worlds, and the mirror that shows us what we have created.”

If their employees came home at day's end with interesting stories to tell, it meant that something had gone wrong: a blackout, a strike, a spree killing. The Powers That Be would not suffer others to be in stories of their own unless they were fake stories that had been made up to motivate them.”
  • Seveneves -  “Seven billion who need to be kept happy, and docile, until the end. How do you do that? What's the best way to calm down a scared kid, get them to go back to sleep? Tell them a story. Some shit about Jesus or whatever.”

  • Mashup of lots of esoteric beliefs
  • “Whenever we talk about darkness and light, the terms seem so abstract that many consider the answers to be found in meditation and yoga, but I’m here to tell you that the answers are in the books you will never read, waiting all your life in the libraries you ignored and the bookstores you didn’t visit. I’m here to tell you as well that you are your own Satan and evil can’t possibly interfere more in your life than what you’re already doing to yourself by remaining ignorant. Until you choose the light, darkness is your personal choice, and there’s no reason to feel any empathy for you.”  - Robin Sacredfire
  • You know that the aim of all human beings is to perfect themselves; to become better persons. Therefore, constantly endeavor to awaken and express the virtues of the soul that animates you. In doing so, you will contribute to your evolution and serve the cause of humanity.

  • The Secret
  • "Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
  • "Our thoughts, our feelings, our dreams, our ideas are physical in the universe. That if we dream something, if we picture something, it adds a physical thrust towards realization that we can put into the universe." - Will Smith
  • "You become what you read. You become what you listen to. You become what you watch. You become what you think. Choose wisely"
  • "Thoughts become things. If you see it in your mind, you will hold it in your hand." - Bob Proctor
  • "What you think you become. What you feel you attract. What you imagine you create." - Buddha
  • "You have sole ownership of your vision. And the Universe will give you what you want within your vision. What happens with most people is that they muddy their vision with 'reality'. Their vision becomes full of not only what they want but what everybody else thinks about what they want, too. Your work is to clarify and purify your vision so that the vibration that you are offering can then be answered."           -Abraham Hicks
  • Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. - Mark 11:24

  • The Hidden Messages in Water and many more books
  • Human consciousness affects the molecular structure of water.
  • "Water has a memory and carries within it our thoughts and prayers. As you yourself are water, no matter where you are, your prayers will be carried to the rest of the world."
  • "Water has memory." - Olaf, Frozen 2
  • "To give your positive or negative attention to something is a way of giving energy. The most damaging form of behavior is withholding your attention."
  • "Love and gratitude are fundamental to the phenomenon of life in all nature."
  • "If you fill your heart with love and gratitude, you will find yourself surrounded by so much that you can love and that you can feel grateful for, and you can even get closer to enjoying the life of health and happiness that you seek. But what will happen if you emit signals of hate, dissatisfaction, and sadness? Then you will probably find yourself in a situation that makes you hateful, dissatisfied, and sad. The life you live and the world you live in are up to you. "

  • Afterlife Stuff
  • “If you want to know your past life, look into your present condition; if you want to know your future life, look at your present actions.”
  • “Above all, be at ease, be as natural and spacious as possible. Slip quietly out of the noose of your habitual anxious self, release all grasping, and relax into your true nature. Think of your ordinary emotional, thought-ridden self as a block of ice or a slab of butter left out in the sun. If you are feeling hard and cold, let this aggression melt away in the sunlight of your meditation. Let peace work on you and enable you to gather your scattered mind into the mindfulness of Calm Abiding, and awaken in you the awareness and insight of Clear Seeing. And you will find all your negativity disarmed, your aggression dissolved, and your confusion evaporating slowly like mist into the vast and stainless sky of your absolute nature.”
  • “As Stephen Levine says: “When your fear touches someone’s pain it becomes pity; when your love touches someone’s pain, it becomes compassion.”
  • “There is only one law in the universe that never changes-- that all things change, and that all things are impermanent.”

  • A New Earth
  • The Power of Now
  • "You are not IN the universe, you ARE the universe, an intrinsic part of it. Ultimately you are not a person, but a focal point where the universe is becoming conscious of itself.  What an amazing miracle."
  • “Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.”
  • “Time isn’t precious at all, because it is an illusion. What you perceive as precious is not time but the one point that is out of time: the Now. That is precious indeed. The more you are focused on time—past and future—the more you miss the Now, the most precious thing there is.”

  • “The eye through which I see God is the same eye through which God sees me; my eye and God's eye are one eye, one seeing, one knowing, one love.”
  • “If the only prayer you ever say in your whole life is "thank you," it will be enough.”

  • Earth has chakras too!
  • Ley Lines are invisible lines that crisscross around the globe — similar to latitudinal and longitudinal lines — dotted with monuments and natural landforms. Some believe they carry rivers of supernatural energy and that there are pockets of concentrated energy at the places where they intersect that can be harnessed by certain individuals.
  • Stonehenge, the Pyramids of Giza, and Machu Picchu are just some of the ancient monuments that are said to be connected by mysterious invisible pathways called ley lines.

  • “A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be”
  • “It looks as if there were a single ultimate goal for mankind, a far goal toward which all persons strive. This is called variously by different authors self-actualization, self-realization, integration, psychological health, individuation, autonomy, creativity, productivity, but they all agree that this amounts to realizing the potentialities of the person, that is to say, becoming fully human, everything that person can be.”
  • “The great lesson is that the sacred is in the ordinary, that it is to be found in one's daily life, in one's neighbors, friends, and family, in one's backyard.”

  • “Read not to contradict and confute; nor to believe and take for granted; nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider. • “The inquiry of truth, which is the love-making, or the wooing of it, the knowledge of truth, which is the presence of it, and the belief of truth, which is the enjoying of it, is the sovereign good of human nature.”

  • A horse walks into a bar and orders a pint. The barkeep says "you're in here pretty often.
